Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what data we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Who is responsible for your data
Turkey Travel Forum (https://www.turkeytravelforum.com) is operated by Turkey Travel Forum, based in Turkiye. For anything in this policy you can reach us at info@turkeytravelforum.com.
What this site does not do
We want to be clear about this first, because it removes most privacy concerns people have about websites:
- There are no user accounts, logins or registration.
- There are no comment forms, contact forms or newsletter sign-ups. We never ask you to type personal information into this site.
- We do not sell, rent or trade data about you to anyone.
Data we do process
1. Server logs (hosting)
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel processes technical request data in order to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse: your IP address, the page requested, your browser and operating system, referring URL, and a timestamp. This is necessary for the site to function and to stay secure, and Vercel acts as our data processor.
2. Affiliate tracking and advertising (Travelpayouts)
We take part in the Travelpayouts affiliate programme. Its script may set a cookie recording that your visit came through this site, so that we are credited if you later make a booking. Travelpayouts also loads advertising technology on our pages, including Google AdSense and Google DoubleClick, plus its own error-monitoring service. These are third parties with their own privacy policies, and they may set cookies or similar identifiers used for advertising purposes.
Because this is advertising rather than a strictly necessary function, in the EU and UK it requires your consent. The cookie banner is where you give or withhold it, and declining costs you nothing. Details are in our Cookie Policy, and the commercial relationship is explained in our Affiliate Disclosure.
3. Aggregate audience measurement
We may use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand which pages are read and how fast they load. These are designed to work without cookies and without cross-site identifiers: they report aggregate counts, not profiles of individuals.
4. Your consent choice
When you accept or decline cookies, we store that single choice in your browser local storage so we do not have to ask again. It stays on your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Outbound links
This site links to third-party websites, including travel agencies, booking providers and a WhatsApp community group. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's service, governed by their privacy policy, not ours. Joining the WhatsApp group is voluntary and means sharing your phone number with WhatsApp and with the other members.
Legal bases (GDPR Article 6)
- Legitimate interest - server logs, security, and aggregate, cookieless audience measurement.
- Consent - the affiliate and advertising cookies described above. You may withdraw consent at any time and it is as easy to refuse as to accept.
International transfers
Our hosting, affiliate and advertising providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA. Where that happens those providers rely on the transfer mechanisms available to them under applicable law, such as the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
If the GDPR, UK GDPR or Turkiye KVKK applies to you, you have the right to ask for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
One honest caveat: because we operate no accounts and store no profiles, we usually hold nothing that identifies you personally, so in most cases the accurate answer to an access request will be that we have no personal data about you beyond transient server logs held by our host. Write to info@turkeytravelforum.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we add a third-party service or change how data is handled, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes to cookie use will also reset the cookie banner so you can make a fresh choice.
