How to post

Everyone here is answering in their free time. A clear, specific post gets better replies, and stays useful for the people who find it later through search.

Pick the right post type

  • You need a specific answer: a transfer, a price, an opening time, whether something is possible.

When someone answers it well, mark their reply as the accepted answer so the next traveller finds it fast.

  • Open-ended topics where several views are useful: is X worth it, best area to stay, itinerary feedback.

Say what you already think and why — it gives people something to respond to.

  • You're back from Türkiye and want to share what you did, what it cost and what you'd change.

Dates, route, prices and honest lows are what make a report useful months later.

  • You run or work for a guesthouse, tour, transfer or other travel business in Türkiye and want to introduce it.

Every Marketplace post is shown with a “Business listing” label. See the disclosure rule below.

  • Long-form reference articles. Written by the editorial team and moderators.

Spotted something out of date in a guide? Leave a comment — guides are updated from member corrections.

What makes a good question

  • Search first. Airport transfers, SIM cards, the Museum Pass and balloon prices already have detailed threads and guides.
  • Be specific in the title. “Istanbul airport to Sultanahmet at 2am — taxi or Havaist?” beats “Transport question”.
  • Give context. Travel month, how many nights, budget, who is travelling (kids, mobility needs), where you're staying.
  • Say what you already know. It saves people repeating it and shows where you're stuck.
  • One question per post. Split a visa question from an itinerary review.
  • Close the loop. Accept the answer that helped, or reply with what you ended up doing.

What makes a good trip report

  • When you went and for how long — prices and opening times change by season and year.
  • Your route and how you got between places.
  • Where you stayed and roughly what things cost.
  • Highlights, disappointments, and what you'd do differently.
  • Your own photos make it much better — see images below.

Marketplace and business disclosure

Introducing your own business is welcome — in a Marketplace post only. Marketplace posts carry a visible “Business listing” label so readers know who is speaking.

  • Only list a business you own, work for or are paid by.
  • Don't promote your business in replies to other people's questions. If it genuinely answers the question, say plainly that it's yours.
  • No fake reviews, sock-puppet accounts or “I heard great things about…” posts for your own business. These are removed and the accounts suspended.
  • Recommending a place you used as an ordinary customer is fine and doesn't need the Marketplace.

Images

  • Use the Add image button in the editor, or upload a cover image when creating a post. JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 8 MB.
  • Only upload photos you took or have the right to share.
  • Avoid photos where strangers, children or number plates are clearly identifiable.
  • Screenshots of bookings: blur names, booking references and payment details first.

Formatting

Posts use Markdown: **bold**, _italic_, [link text](https://…), - lists, > quotes and ## headings. Mention someone with @username to notify them. Use the Preview tab to check before posting.

Moderation

Posts appear immediately. Moderators may move a post to a better board, edit a title for clarity, lock a thread that has run its course, or hide content that breaks the community guidelines. If you see spam, abuse or dangerous advice, use Report under the post — the author is never told who reported it.

You can edit your own posts at any time (unless the thread is locked) and delete them within 24 hours of posting.
